Jesse Washington was a teenage African American farmhand who was lynched May 15, 1916 in Waco, Texas as 10,000 people watched in Waco's city hall. He was convicted for murdering the wife of his employer, Lucy Fryer. There were no witnesses at the crime and was later found to be a lie.
