Fundraiser Fatigue? How to Fund Your Entire School Year With a Single Fundraising Event!

Do What You Love...

Without the Pressure of Having to Raise Big Funds

Is it really possible to only host 1-2 fundraisers a year AND bring in the money you need to fund your annual school events, gifts, and programs?? With Parent Group elections wrapping up, there’s a good chance your Treasurer is looking ahead to next year's budget. You may be looking at all those expenses and thinking – how are we going to fund all these initiatives?

Rather than getting fundraiser fatigue from bake sales, cash drives, raffles, and more... why not host ONE BIG EVENT to fund your entire year?? This way your group can do the events you love – family fun night, carnivals, book fairs – without the pressure of having to raise big funds.

This is not only important for your Parent Group, but also for the students and parents in your school. Parents get fundraising fatigue when they feel like it’s a never-ending round of one fundraiser after another. Students begin to tune out when they are presented with another product to "sell" to friends and family.

Shake things up with a One + Done Fundraiser! Parents get excited when they hear this phrase and are more likely to participate. Review your budget for the year, set the goal, then let parents know "if we raise this amount, we won’t have to fundraise again this year!" If you don’t hit it, you'll still be much closer to filling your goal and can supplement with some of the smaller (FUN!) events that bring in a little cash: holiday shops, book fairs, etc.

3 Ways to Host a “One + Done” Fundraiser!

  1. Brand Your Fundraising Event

Give your fundraiser a unique name, logo, or theme to make it memorable year after year. This allows your event to build momentum over time. As students, parents, teachers, and the community begin to recognize your event each year - you will have an easier time driving in donations and getting widespread engagement.

Example: Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary Annual Hawk Hustle

Since 2021, Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary has teamed up with Get Movin' to host their annual Hawk Hustle event! Students run or walk in this Fun Run style fundraiser and raise money to support their school. Prizes are won based on participation, reaching donation goals, and athletics. The best part? This is the ONLY fundraiser they have all year, leaving room on their calendar for all the other family fun events they host! Using the unique event name based on their school mascot - Hawk Hustle - the Holmes PTO has given their school a One + Done fundraising event that everyone looks forward to!

2. Experience Rewards

Really give your students a reason to raise more! Duct tape the principal to the wall, have lunch on the roof, class silly string fight – these are the kinds of memorable prizes that will have students meeting their donation goals!

With our online system, FundHub, you can promote your experience incentives, keep track of who has earned specific rewards using our online incentive tracker, and set student donation goals so they know the amount they need to raise.

Example: Jane Ryan School Walk-Athon

Jane Ryan School almost TRIPLED their donations when they teamed up with Get Movin' and introduced fun incentives to their Walk-Athon!

Replacing their gift wrap sale fundraiser, Jane Ryan School started an annual Walk-Athon. To encourage the kids to keep raising money, their gym teacher was duct taped to the wall by the kids who raised the most money. Ten teachers and staff, including the Principal, had pies thrown in their face also by top earners!

3. Give Your Parents Online Tools

By giving parents online tools to spread the word on social media and easily raise online donations, you will completely transform your fundraiser and raise more than you ever thought possible.

  • Easily Accept and Track Online Donations
  • 100% mobile-compliant Student Fundraising Webpages
  • Customizable Reports
  • Teacher Access with Classroom Webpages
  • Simple Share Tools for Social Media, Email, and Text

Example: City Language Immersion Charter

Since 2020, City Language Immersion Charter didn't just double or triple their donations - they QUADRUPLED what they raised by teaming up with Get Movin' and giving parents access to our online system, FundHub!!

Students of CLIC got very creative about how to raise donations, including making compelling videos to share with families on social media along with their Student Fundraising Webpages. CLIC consistently sees about 80% student participation in their event and several classes have celebrated 100% class participation.

"The guidance received from you regarding the database and, in particular, incentives was an integral part of our success! Pairing their motivation with giving parents online tools made all the difference." - City Language Immersion Charter Fun Run Chairperson

Athon fundraising – Fun Runs, Read-Athons, Walk-Athons, Dance-Athons, etc. - combined with the power of FundHub, can raise huge funds. We’re talking 2-3 times what you can raise on your own with multiple small fundraisers. Want to experience it for yourself?
