Term 3b, week 1 Can you believe it is THE FINAl half term?

We have begun the new half term by developing our knowledge of Africa. This follows on from some of the work we did last half term with our class reader, ‘The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind’

We used maps to locate some African countries including Malawi, Nigeria and Benin.

After reading a report from the British Museum about the Benin Bronzes, we wondered what these were. This led us to develop our knowledge of Benin.

First of all, we have focused on the geography related to Benin. We wrote about its location in Africa, which countries border it, what the terrain is like, which rivers flow through the country and its population.

This week, we have also started to learn some French with Matt. He is coming in a couple of times a week to teach us the basics.

We figure this is a good opportunity as it will help us when we move to secondary school.

We have learned how to greet one another and introduce ourselves.

We play games to help us secure our new skills.

We are also learning the numbers and how to count in French.

Some of us are also attending Science Club at the Centre for Life.

This week, we experimented with light and how we see objects.

Nelly was Year 6’s Star of the Week, this week, for having a great deal of patience when working with her partner! She explains things so well.

Patience is a great skill to have Nelly! Well done!
