Report Cards

The Report Card. We have 3 grading terms. Report Cards for Term 1 will be available this Friday, December 10th around noon. You can access the report cards through the "School Brains" parent portal. Our school secretary, Cathy Champagne, has re-sent portal login information to those who appear not to have set up an account yet. If you go to our school website and look for the blue book Parent Portal icon, there are directions how to get started with your account if you have never used it. If you don't get an email with portal information but need assistance, please call the CES office. You will also receive a letter from our curriculum director explaining how some items on the report card are not assessed first term due to the alignment of the report card with new curriculum. By the end of the year all areas listed on the report card will be assessed, but some concepts are not covered until term 2 or term 3 as they build on the skills learned in term 1. For concepts not assessed you will see a dark grey box or an "NA" (not addressed at this time).

Standards Based Assessment. At the elementary level, we use "Standards Based Assessment" report cards. This means we describe how your child is doing compared to a grade level expectations set by the state or district. There is a grading key on the report card explaining what each code means. For example, Your child may have a "P" - which means "Indicates progress toward mastery of the grade level standard." This means your student is on track and developing the skills we hoped they would for this time of year. Your child's report card also has information about "Pro Social Skills/Approaches to Learning" such as listening attentively and putting forth best effort.

IEP Progress Report. For those students who receive services through an IEP, parents/guardians will receive a progress report mailed from "eSped" describing the students progress in their goal areas. These reports are sent individually by our special educators and service providers and should arrive sometime on Friday.

We always hope that our regular communications and conferences give you a picture of your child's successes and challenges at school. The report card and/or IEP progress report is another piece of information we provide. We encourage you to ask your child's teacher(s) any questions that arise.
