Queen Camel Frome, somerset
Futures for Somerset are currently working with Somerset County Council to deliver a new primary school on a Greenfield site in the village of Queen Camel in Somerset. The school will be a replacement for the existing Victorian school which has suffered from flooding on a number of occasions and is no longer large enough for the needs of the village and the surrounding area. Futures for Somerset are working with BAM Construction to provide a turnkey Design and Build solution for the Local Authority. The new school is targeted for completion in early summer 2016.
Futures for Somerset have provided a range of services into this project. Delivering an end-to-end service we have provided Feasibility, Project Management, Procurement and Employer’s Agent Services. In addition we have also assisted the Local Authority with the management of off-site works and land transactions.
The project value is in the region of £3.5 million and includes the delivery of infrastructure solutions to the site for utilities and highways connections. Any development of a Greenfield site quite rightly brings its own challenges and often opposition. This project has provided unique challenges and required close liaison with a number of stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
