here's a few snaps of a fall 2019 excursion with the wife to the absolutely dreamy town of highlands north carolina. this was our first trip to highlands and boy are we already planning multiple returns..
the actual town of highlands is beyond wonderful. it has a quaint, small town english feel with lots of brick, stone, fireplaces, amazing food, markets, and shops. also of note, the absence of salt water taffy and neon signs was remarkable. oh, and the park on main hotel is magic. pure magic.
the outdoor exploration options that the area offers is fantastic. just minutes from downtown highlands you can hop on multiple trails that lead you to some of the glory shown below..
fall trees! yeah!
woke up early one (cold 23 degree) morning and hiked up and around whiteside mountain (5000+ feet at summit). awesome trails that take you 360 degrees around the mountain.
we made a pit stop in chatt on our way home and hit a killer hike from signal point to edwards point. gorgeous day that was made even more gorgeous by lunching at taco mamacita on our way out..
if you are looking for an amazing extended weekend getaway, i can't and shan't recommend highlands highlandy enough. just a wonderful mountain getaway that provided yet another glimpse of God's kindness, creativity, and rest.
