Welcome back to the final half term of this academic year. It has been fantastic to see all of the children come back to school this week, after their well deserved week off, continuing where they left off last half term. There has been some amazing story telling, some fantastic math's work, some wonderful creativity and laughter and play.
You might start to see a few more sheds and alterations on the school grounds as we continue to develop play in school. Keep looking at the OPAL section for what we are doing next, as well as the exciting things the children are currently doing.
Part of the expansion of play, and exploring different areas of the school grounds, means that children will be accessing areas in all weathers from September. As discussed in the last parent forum meeting, we will be adding Wellies and Waterproofs to the school uniform list from September.
As we continue to engage with active activities, we want to make sure that the children are warm, comfy and can explore the areas around school, whatever the weather. As we all know, it can be rather wet and windy in Autumn term and having the right clothing is going to be important. I am very keen that it is affordable and waterproof, so I am currently speaking to a few companies to see if we can obtain some prices and discounts for school, once I have some more details I will share them with you all.

School life
This week saw the Sports Partnership come into school and work with the children. It was great to see everyone taking part and having a fantastic time!
It was fantastic to hear all of the model texts that the children have been learning as part of their writing this week. We were treated to renditions of them in celebration assembly this morning and it was wonderful to see and hear!

We have had a new addition to the playground, a loose parts shed. Thank you for all your donations so far, if there is anything else, please could you drop them off by Monday. We will have another window with some more requests later in the year. Thank you all once again.
Watch out for the Golden Welly Award that is going to start from next week as well!

If your child is in Year 1 or Year 2 next year, you are invited to a Zoom meeting on Tuesday 15th June at 5pm to discuss the arrangements for Key stage 1 next academic Year. This year we had one year 1 class, a mixed Year 1/2 class and a Year 2 class. They have worked well together as a Key Stage and we would like to share our plans with you for next year, as well as answer any questions you may have.
Register in advance for this meeting:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Friday 18th June
Next Friday we will be celebrating Pride Awareness month. We plan on having a colour run as part of the celebrations, if your child has sunglasses and a t-shirt and shorts that can go in the wash afterwards, that will be fantastic.
The whole school will be reading a selection of books, creating artwork and taking part in the fun run. The children will wear their PE kits - if you would prefer them to wear something else for the colour fun run (the power paint is washable) then please can you send your child in with that on Friday.
NUT FREE SCHOOL
Just a polite reminder that we are a Nut free school. Several children have been bringing chocolate hazelnut spread in. We have a couple of children with allergies and thank you for your cooperation with this.

Finally
It's been a fantastic start to this term. It is great to see that some large events are starting to come back, and those of you interested in football will no doubt be looking forward to the start of the Euros today.
Thank you all once again for you continued support in following the procedures we have in place, these will probably continue till the end of the academic year, unless there is any change in advice from Public Health England and the Department for Education. This advice, can at times, differ from what the national picture is.
Have a great weekend,
Mr Anthony McGeeney
