We are very proud to share that Baylis Court School was named in the top 88 schools in the country for P8 progress for disadvantaged students in 2021/22.

This is a fantastic achievement and testimony to the hard work of Baylis Court School students and staff. Inspiring leaders of tomorrow.

The Black Creatives Award by Royal Holloway University London

As Black History Month comes to an end, we are committed to continuing to spotlight and celebrate Black voices throughout the year, not just over the month of October.

With that in mind we are pleased to announce the launch of our latest project the ‘Black Creatives Award’ (BCA). The BCA is a creative competition for Black & Mixed Black heritage secondary school students. Students will create and submit original pieces of art, writing, photography, music & digital media relating to this year’s Black History Month theme: Time for Change - Action Not Words.

Submissions will centre young creatives perspectives on the change they want to see within the Black community, with a particular focus on actions that can be taken.

Submission information

Who can submit?

  • Black & Mixed Black heritage
  • Attending state funded secondary schools
  • The competition is split into two age group categories:
  • The KS3 category accepts submissions from Year 7, 8 & 9.
  • The KS4/5 category accepts submissions from Year 10, 11, 12 & 13.

What can you submit?

Below is a summary of the different types of submissions students can make. The specific requirements for each can be found in the presentation under ‘Teacher Notes’ on our website.

  • Art (sculpture, drawing, painting and more)
  • Digital Media (photography, digital art, and film)
  • Writing (essays, short stories, and poetry)
  • Music (song, instrumental and/ or music videos)
  • KS3 entries should submit their work using this form.
  • KS4/5 entries should submit their work using this form.
  • We would also like students to submit an artist’s note. This gives students an opportunity to explain the background and inspiration for their piece.
  • Your artist note should accompany your submission and be no more than 250 words.

Deadline: 31st December 2022 11.59pm.

Discover Apprenticeships at Bloomberg -for Parents

Supporting your children in navigating Early Careers space and post-college options can be a tricky task. With a variety of university programmes and apprenticeship opportunities it is more important than ever to understand what each of them entails and which one is the best choice for them.

This is why at Bloomberg we are hosting a Discover Apprenticeships event for teachers, parents and carers to provide an insight into the world of apprenticeships. The session will take place on Wednesday 30th November, 4PM - 6:30PM, virtually via zoom, you can sign up here to attend.
