A message from Principal Schachet
Dear Mountain School Families,
Another year with the Mountain Schools, another year of excitement, engagement, and growth. The first few weeks of school have been full of adventure, making friends, learning new routines, and beginning curriculum. We have some of the most talented, dedicated, and passionate teachers I have ever worked with. We spent the first few weeks working hard to lay the groundwork for a positive school culture.
Back to School Night events at the three Mountain Schools went great! It was great seeing the support from parents, grandparents, and community who came out to visit our schools. The teachers communicated curriculum and classroom expectations with all who attended. Thank you for your dedication to our schools and making Back to School night a great experience!
Our PTOs have already been working hard and will continue beginning of the year meetings over the next few weeks. If you are interested in joining the dedicated community members who support our schools please contact the PTO president at your school or contact your school secretary for more information.
Belong and Accelerate
Belong and Accelerate is continuing to be our model. Every student belongs here, exactly as they come. Our staff are dedicated to meeting our students right where they are, and are committed to helping them accelerate at a pace that is constant in forward movement, optimizing their individual growth and learning abilities.
PBIS: Positive Behavior Interventions and Support
We are also continuing PBIS; Positive Behavior Interventions and Support. This sets a strong foundation and creates a positive school climate which helps support desired behaviors in our classrooms. Students are earning "Mountain Moolah" which they can spend in our school stores. September’s focus is RESPECT and at the end of the month each campus will have an assembly and pep rally honoring a student from each class that demonstrated this character trait.
Thank you for taking the time each month to read through the Mountain Schools newsletter. It is full of pertinent information, upcoming dates, facts, PSD protocols, and album of amazing pictures from all our Mountain campuses.
Thank you!
Principal Schachet

PARENTS,
There are just a few items we need you to do:
- Log in to ParentVue so you can sign the Parent/Student Code of Conduct. You will be prompted to sign the code of conduct when you log in. ParentVUE is a tool that you will utilize throughout your student's PSD education. You can look at your student’s grades, view report cards, and check attendance. You can also change your contact information, fill out the media opt out form, and transportation forms.
- Complete the Free and Reduced Application: Meals are no longer free for all students. Completing this application this will allow you to waive certain school fees and access free meals for your student(s). Even if you feel you do not need additional financial support it helps the Mountain Schools immensely to have each family complete this form as it helps us acquire critical educational funds each year.
- Communicate with your student(s) about the meals they should or should not receive at school. If you need to load money into your student's School Pay account, login with the button below and choose PSD Mountain Schools when you create their account. Thank you!
- Check the menu every day! The link to menu's can be found on Nutrislice. If your student does not like what is being served for the day please send your student with a lunch from home. It is critical that your student eats at lunch so we have a productive afternoon!

Dear Mountain Schools families,
The PSD Mountain Schools will participate in a Lockdown Drill the week of September 12th as part of the district’s ongoing safety and security efforts.
At the start of a drill, our team will announce over the school’s intercom that a lockdown drill is underway. They will emphasize that it is only a drill and that there is not an active threat to our school.
During the drill, students and staff are directed to a safe location inside the building. Exterior and interior doors, windows, and access points are closed and locked.
PSD works in partnership with our partners from Fort Collins Police Services and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. After the drill, our school staff, members of PSD’s Safety and Security Department, and law enforcement officers will review how things went.
If your student(s) has experienced feeling stressed as a result of past drills, I encourage you to reach out to me or the school counselor, so we are aware and can talk with you about the ways your child(ren) may be supported.
If you need anything or have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at tschache@psdschools.org or 970-413-0084.
Sincerely,
Tom Schachet, Principal
