PTFA

Friends of Wold PTFA would like to say how wonderful it was to see so many families turning up in support of our recent Summer Fayre. Thanks to everyone who came. We raised a total of £1,164.75. We hope you all had as much fun as we did!

We have lots of fun events we'd like to make happen in the next school year for you and your children to enjoy, but to do this we need more volunteers to come join us. So please come along to a meeting to find out more about your PTFA and how you can get involved.

Take a look at our Facebook page 'Friends of Wold Academy' for more information, or email friendsofwoldacademy@gmail.com

We look forward to meeting you!

Beehive

The children are learning all about ‘Pirate Pete and his Parrot’ in stories for talking.

We have a pirate ship in the role play area which the children are really enjoying, they are looking for treasure in the sand and making lots of pirate themed crafts.

F1

This week the children took part in a plastic hunt. They looked for materials that were made of plastic which led to the home learning challenge to search for plastic, metal and wool. They have worked hard on using vocabulary to describe the properties of the objects they have found.

As we are coming to the end of a school year some of the children are getting very excited about moving onto F2. We would just like to say that we have loved having your children in F1 this year and we wish them good luck in their new learning journey.

F2

F2 are working hard to be “Year 1 ready” in preparation for our transition days next week. Lots of us have already been for a little visit and to say hello to the Year 1 teachers. We have also been doing some Year 1 maths work and are becoming brilliant with Effective Maths.

We are very busy with our work on farms and can’t wait for Purple Pig Farm to visit on Friday. We have been talking about animals, the sounds they make, the names of their young and their homes.

In Talk for Writing we have become authors and illustrators and written our own books called 'The Magic Porridge Pot'. Our illustrations are amazing.

We are looking forward to our sports day next week. Keep your fingers crossed for nice weather!

Year 1

Year 1 have been very busy with our learning over the last couple of weeks. We thoroughly enjoyed our Spanish day on Friday, when we made Spanish flags, fans and learnt how to say greetings and the colours in Spanish.

In Geography, we have continued to explore our exciting capital city and look forward to learning more about all of London's famous landmarks before the end of term.

In Science, we have looked at pond habitats and have created our own habitats for woodland creatures. We are extremely excited for Sports Day next week!

Year 2

Last week Year 2 really immersed themselves into Spanish day. We learnt a new song and did some fantastic dancing. We also created some lovely pieces of artwork using pencil sharpenings.

We have also enjoyed beginning to persuade people to come to our amazing castle on holiday. The children have been very creative and have used some outstanding adjectives.

In maths we have been revising addition and subtraction and the different methods we can use. The children have really begun challenged themselves.

In geography we have begun to explore London and we are looking forward to continuing this next week.

The children have worked really hard in PE practising for sports day and we are looking forward to showing you next Wednesday.

Year 4 winners of the Hull Schools Final - WELL DONE TEAM WOLD!

Year 3 and Year 4

In Year 3 and 4, we had a great day last Friday on our Spanish Day. We played Spanish Bingo, asked each other questions in Spanish and especially enjoyed sharing Spanish dances and songs in the assembly at the end of the day.

In T4W, we loved writing poetry last week and are now working on innovating our stories.

Our RE activity this week involved us looking at many different Creation Stories. We then used these ideas to create our own!

In maths, year 3 have enjoyed baking this week, weighing the ingredients carefully and accurately.

As we head towards the end of term, we are looking forward to meeting our new teachers on our transition days on Monday and Tuesday, and we can't wait for Sports Day on Wednesday!

Year 5

Year 5 have had a busy week this week attending Sirius Academy. The children enjoyed a range of activities linked to the Tour de France including computer-based activities, times table wheels, descriptive writing and riding a bike.

In the next couple of weeks, we are looking forward to completing our geography work on Oceans, looking at the new T4R model text 'Beowulf and the Sea Hag' and a science experiment on paper aeroplanes.

Year 6

As the end of term is almost upon us, Year 6 have been very busy preparing for their final weeks at Wold Academy. One of our favourite projects has been the rehearsals for our show entitled, 'What the Queen has seen!' With true team spirit, the children have embraced this project taking their roles very seriously which include: crew members, actors, singers, props team and technical support.

We have noticed that since the pandemic, for some children, standing on the stage and saying one line of script seemed daunting. However, with the support and encouragement of their peers, many children have tried to overcome these fears and we are very proud.

Many of our children will be spending time visiting their new secondary schools next week - we wish them well and look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return.

The final week of term will be a busy one with sports day - the children in Year 6 have been practising for this with the sports coaches. Wold Academy takes sportsmanship seriously and our sports day will be a wonderful opportunity for children to show how they embrace sport no matter what their ability.

We are also looking forward to our end of term prom and our final assembly on the last day. We believe that these last few weeks at school are precious and we intend to make them as enjoyable and memorable as possible.
