Edward Theodore Gein was devoted to his mother who was a religious fanatic. After her death, he murdered two people and robbed numerous graves. He inspired many moves.
He was born on August 27, 1906 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Gein was the son of a very strong alcoholic father and a very, very religious mother. Ed grew up with his older brother, Henry, in a house controlled by his mother's puritanical preaching about the sins of lust and carnal desire.
Devoted to his mother until she died around 1945, Ed never left home or dated girls. After she died, he became very, very crazy. He eventually began going around cemeteries robbing graves for body parts. In 1954 he killed his first person. He would not be caught till 1957.
That year, Ed pleaded not guilty by insanity. He was found unable to face trial and was sent to a mental hospital. Almost ten years after, he was able to face trial and was found guilty of murder. He was in sent to various criminal psychiatric institutions. He died of respiratory and heart failure on July 26, 1984, at age 77.
