Welcome to your magical self-love journey! This box is not centered around any one specific type of magic. While I personally practice Hoodoo, there is influence from Wicca, Voodoo and Druidism throughout. I have gathered several videos, articles and graphic information on the subject of both self-love and the practice of magic in general. While it is not necessary to watch them, they do play a part in the overall experience that I have created for you.

Self-Love Poppet or Voodoo Doll

In your box, there is a small doll kit. With this kit you are going to make a tiny self-love doll! First, let's talk about what they are and what they are not.

Voodoo dolls are the most wondrous, yet misunderstood tool from old, Haitian voodoo on the market. Many people associate voodoo dolls with torment. While it’s true that pricking these little guys with pins can be used to try and harm your enemies, this is only one result a voodoo doll can bring. To understand the way a voodoo doll works, you should know that they’re capable of bringing many blessings, happiness, wealth, and power. They’re also capable of destruction.

A practice that’s been around for thousands of years hasn’t been able to hold it’s own for no reason. Thousands of people still hold the voodoo doll to be part of their religion. With so much instructed into the doll, there must be something to the practice of using one. It’s cheap, fun way to enjoy voodoo magic.

There are no real accepted rules on how to create a “real” Voodoo doll. You can make any doll you want, and however you want, by keeping in mind that the doll will have direct materialistic and spiritual connection to the person. People have made Voodoo dolls from any materials they could get their hands on in various places and periods, such as clay, wood, wax, corn leaves, human bones, various fabrics, feathers, plant roots, etc.

If you want to "dress" the doll, be aware of these color meanings. You can dress your doll simply by binding it in colored cords or adding simple scraps of fabric in the colors connected to your goals.

• Yellow: success, understanding, attractiveness, confidence.
• White: peace, security, cleanliness, health, honesty, sincerity, protection from rumors.
• Red: power, energy, love, health, passion.
• Purple: spirituality, physical and spiritual healing, strength, wisdom, contact with spirits, psychic sense, resistance to black magic.
• Green: money, wealth, abundance, prosperity, fertility, luck, health, generosity, rebirth.
• Blue: love, the color of Marie Laveau.
• Indigo: sacred color, removing evil.
• Pink: love, affection, honor, dedication, unity, kindness, happiness, luck, friendship, morality.
• Black: transfiguration, removal of bad habits, grief, strife, poverty, confusion, bad luck. Fully black colored dolls are used in black magic.
• Brown: doubt, indecision, uncertainty.
• Gray: termination, a stalemate situation.
• Orange: success, support, rapid adaptation.

Pin Colors

The voodoo doll is manipulated through differently colored pins. Blue does not stand for peace, according to New Orleans voodoo. Blue is supposed to bring love to whomever the doll represents.

Pink is an extremely vibrant, and hyper color. It has an effect that puts a smile on everyone’s face. Pink is significant in the voodoo world because of it’s ability to bring happiness. A pink pin might be just the thing to perk your friend, or loved one up.

When we think of money, we tend to think of green. A long time ago, yellow was more closely associated. When voodoo was first invented, people used gold in exchange for goods. If you’re feeling like you won’t be able to sum up the money to pay your rent next month, stab a yellow pin deep into your dolls fluff.

Sickness happens to all who are human. They’re irritants, and disease all around us. We may not be able to repel all the harmful germs that can potentially enter our bodies. However, we can do something to speed up our recover, or the recovery of a loved one. A black pin is the pin to choose if you are into bringing pain relief, or healing.

Using the Doll

It’s important to think deeply about your desires while fully absorbing the color, and it’s meaning, of the pin. Meditate on what you want for several minutes. Keep your eyes in contact with the pin at all times. Send as much energy, and concentration as possible. Hold the doll in your arms while you complete this process. While this can be used on another, I will warn you that it is not a good idea to force love magically.

When you’re certain that you know what you want, and you have it clearly visible in your mind, it’s time to strike the doll with that pin. Put the pin in the doll’s stomach region, or heart region. This will help support your heart’s desires. If you’re interested in obtaining knowledge, you should stick the pin in the voodoo doll’s head.

It’s Okay To Use Multiple Pins, Just Repeat The Process

You do not have to swipe voodoo dolls clean of all pins before using them for another spell. If you’re interested in using your voodoo doll for a dash of luck, and money. Simply repeat the step before with the next pin you desire.

Be Patient!

Wait for your personal power to grant you what you desire. This may be a course of several days, or several months. Remember that personal power is driven by our own strengths. Keep your attitude positive, and your work ethic lively. The universe will grant you what you want if your desire, and karma are in your favor.

Herbal Decoction

In Tea Magick we recognize that plants have their own spirit, their own perceptive self from which we draw power. The simple truth is that plants don’t need humans to survive, we need them. In fact, most plants do much better when they are left alone by humans. All of the herbs included are organic, food grade, pesticide free and certified kosher.

A decoction is a concentrated form of a hot infusion or tea. This can be an extremely useful method for herbs that don’t give up their beneficial chemicals easily or for woody parts or roots. It is also a great way of creating a more concentrated form of an herbal supplement, and for use with children, animals, or anyone else who it is unlikely to drink enough of a hot infusion to do them any good.

Instructions

To make a decoction, start with cold distilled, spring or purified water. Cold water is important, to help ensure you extract the maximum amount of beneficial nutrients from the herbs.

Use a ratio of 1 oz.(28g) of dried herbs per 16 ounces (500ml) of water. Decoctions are normally made in a quantity that can be used within a couple of days, as they don’t keep well in the refrigerator for more than three days. If you do need to keep one for more than three days, keep it in a tightly sealed container or freeze them (ice cube trays work well). You may also add two tablespoons of alcohol (like vodka, rum, or brandy) per cup (8oz) for better preservation.

1. Crush, chop or grind the herbs, as appropriate, into small pieces and place them in the cold water in your cooking pot. (Choose whatever herbs that you like from the box. Check their descriptions for benefits both magical and practical.)
2. Allow the herbs to cold soak for a few hours.
3. Cover the pot and bring to a slow boil. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer.
4. Keep simmering until the volume of liquid has been reduced to ½ of what you started with (about 15-20 minutes).
5. Strain (cheesecloth or a straining bag works well). Once cooled, squeeze the herbs left behind, to ensure that you have removed all the liquid from them.
6. Pour the decoction into a jar with a lid for storage. Use within 48 hours or freeze.

Decoctions contain four times more medicine than a tea. Adults in good health can take up to 1 cup of a decoction, three times per day, depending on the herb. Children’s dosages should be cut, based upon their weight.

Double Decoctions: Double Decoctions are the same as decoctions, with the exception that they are simmered until the final volume equals ¼ of the original volume of liquid, increasing your final medicinal concentration. Adults should only take 1 TB of a double decoction and children up to ½ tsp for most herbs. Double decoctions are especially useful when decocting shredded bark and dried roots, where the useful compounds come out of the herbs slowly. When work-ing with these herbs, allow them to soak for 12 hours in cold water before bringing it to a boil and simmering.

The universe provides you with everything that you desire, whether consciously or not. Your "I" statements should especially be spoken only with love and intent. "I Am Healed." I Am Loved" "I Am Powerful" I AM.
