Cosmogenesis; meaning the origin or evolution of the universe. Anthropogenesis; meaning the process or point of becoming human. Philosophic question of the day: At what point do we as humans collectively realise that the evolution of our inner universe equates to the responsibility to the outer world. The ancient ones knew this... it was taught...and so it will be again. Cosmogenesis of the honeybee is a multidimensional journey into the collection of knowledge, data, songs, star lore, ancient and modern understandings of the teachings of the honeybee around the world in relation to the anthropos and our current journey into the stars and beyond.

PROJECT OVERVIEW: A painterly expedition through research, set up and the painting process, into the creating of a complete series of artworks on ecologically sourced local wood. The journey takes us from a diverse omni-cultural significance of the honeybee species, into specific environmental issues, sensitivities and strengths. Delving deeper into the anthropomorphic spiritual symbolism of the Honeybee in ancient and modern culture.
Exploring diverse traditional stories of the beloved bee in its native environment and conveying insight into their internal structures of societal behaviours and living. This is able to offer us valuable insight from an intimate viewpoint and understanding of the acute relevance to our own journey, behaviours and experience of human and planetary existence. The artwork aims to document and inform, strengthen and inspire our relationship with the humble Honeybee and our surroundings, with community.
Artwork Medium: 13 x hexagonal panels made from Vic eco-sourced wood. Experimenting with the old masters painting technique of mixing layers of hand-made egg tempera and oil glazing, to produce a satisfying and beautiful painting process that gives luminosity to each rendered piece. A visual poem. A treasured map, that can be curated as a stand alone artwork for a gallery wall, or as a story board to sit around, with community and listen to our local elders talking about honeybee country and honeybee healing. It is an interactive environmental tool and cultural resource. CosmoGenesis of the Honeybee will tour after its inception, to schools, eco villages, workshops and galleries and ask elders from around the world to convey their wisdom on this topic and beyond.
