Iowa Western wins second national title in school history
Iowa Western defeated Salt Lake 1-0 to claim its second NJCAA DI Women's Soccer National title in school history! Iowa Western has played in five championship games in its 12 National Tournament appearances. The Reivers have emerged victorious in two of the championship games.
The Reivers and Bruins combined for a total of 26 shots in tonight's championship match. The single goal of the game was scored by Offensive MVP, Marta Llopis. Salt Lake's Defensive MVP, Theresa Wiesiolek, had four saves while Iowa Western's goalkeeper Bella Washington had five. Salt Lake only allowed two goals for the entire tournament.
With this win, Iowa Western earns its first National Championship title since 2013. The Reivers will end the season 19-3-1 with a perfect conference record of 6-0 and a perfect National Championship Tournament record of 4-0.
