INTRODUCTION/ORGANIZATION
My name is Falyn and this is my portfolio for art class.
My favorite type of art would probably be watercoloring because I find it relaxing.
From colored pencils, tracing my hand and making a website I think a lot fun art will be made with some reflections on my work and the process I went through to complete it.
SEPTEMBER UPDATE
I developed skills while exploring how to draw hands. Specifically, I improved drawing without knowing exactly what's coming next, just going with the flow. I wasn’t sure my hand drawings were going to work but trying it then having it end up working out was pretty exciting, I might be trusting myself a bit more artistically. I created original art with my cross contour hand, using my own colors and not tracing the hand.
OCTOBER UPDATE
I have created original art this month with my Cross Contour Pumpkin plus Zentangles drawing ,combining pumpkins and stripes into a creepy kinda spider web look. I better developed my skill of blending a lot with the left side of my pumpkin drawing and the Watercolor Skill Building we’ve been learning. Specifically with our Watercolor Skill Building I was taking a lot of risks which now makes me more confident to do the watercolor painting we’re currently doing, it was definitely helpful to go one by one with all the techniques. I’m also solving problems in the current watercolor on my own a lot better now instead of freaking out about a small mistake.
NOVEMBER UPDATE
I created original art by making my pottery. I was able to solve a lot of problems with the clay with Ms Haggerty's help like air bubbles and making the clay smooth. I was nervous for the clay because it’s never been my strong spot but being able to watch how Ms Haggerty was doing hers made it easier for me to remember how to use and mold the clay. I developed skills while exploring the colored pencil drawing. Specifically I improved being to match up colorings better with shading cause I’ve always been a really poor shader but this improved my shading skills a lot especially because it wasn’t with a pencil this time but something different.
DECEMBER/JANUARY UPDATE
I noticed a progression of skill building during the Acrylic disco ball. I was getting better and better at placing the paints not as messy and taking some risks as I got more comfortable with being able to paint with acrylics. I collaborated and reflected asking what I should do with the other side like glitter for example was something I was debating myself about it but wasn’t sure if I should do it until someone else said it was a good idea too.
