Jumping like kangaroos Dosbarth Bedwen's investigation into how far we can jump

This week we have been learning about Australian animals. We have been researching facts about animals. We were all amazed when we found out that kangaroos can jump 8 metres in a single bound! This made us curious and inspired us to want to find out how far we can jump in comparison to the kangaroo.

We also decided to investigate the question: does the tallest person in the class jump the furthest? We made predictions.

The first thing we did was measure the height of one another using the metre sticks. Year 1 and 2 recorded their heights in a table.

After that we all took it in turns to do our best long jump. We didn't quite jump as far as the kangaroo! We found out the answer to our question that the tallest person does not jump the furthest. We had a lot of fun jumping. There was good teamwork and communication.

Year 1 and 2 made a graph of their results to show the distance jumped by each child which can be seen on their j2e files.
