Term 3A Week 4

This week in English, we have focused on poetry. We have been listening to and learning a lovely poem called ‘The Nut Tree’ by Julia Donaldson. We pretended we were the little nut that grew into a tree and used our bodies to respond to the words of the poem as we listened to it being read.

We have got some super readers in year 1/2. Willow, our school dog, has enjoyed listening to some of the children read this week.

Willow also joined us a Forest School to this week. She absolutely loved it and was so well behaved - just like the children!

We used our senses to think about what we could see, hear, smell and feel in preparation for writing our own poems.

We had a trip to early years to meet their pet insects and the tadpoles. We are learning about animals in science and we are particularly interested in frogs from the amphibian group.

We explored the Lego further this week. The children have been remarkably calm and shown good team work when building with it.

Finally, we had a lesson about dental health with students from Newcastle University. We learned about the importance of choosing to eat foods with less sugar and about how to brush our teeth. All the children got a tooth brush and a timer and I have had some positive feedback about them using both at home.

Another week over already!
