Make no mistake when I say that the Lumix GH6 is a high-end cinema powerhouse that will take you from video to cinematic!
It gets a little technical from here but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't want to know about all the cool things that make this camera so powerful, right?
Well, let's get started then!
Under the hood....or magnesium alloy frame of the GH6 is a brand new Venus Engine which supports internal recording of the new Apple ProRes HQ format internally on a CF Express Card rather than an external storage device. Basically, the Apple codec allows for high-performance and high-quality video straight out of the camera.
You can also choose the standard video formats like .MOV with Hybrid Log Gamma for greater dynamic range and up to 59.94p, 800Mbps (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-Intra) at the high. You'll also find .MP4 format in there too.
Don't forget about the variable frame rates for smooth slow motion and improved quick motion performance. It's all at your fingertips in the GH6
With the inclusion of the twice as powerful Venus Engine you can also expect ultra-fast sensor read out limiting the effects of rolling shutter distortion. Also worthy of high praise is the in-body 5-axis sensor-shift image stabiliser. It can provide up to 7 and a half stops of stabilisation making handheld recording a very real possibility.
As with previous versions of the GH series, the V-Log and V-Gamut are of course included again giving you an extra 12+ stops of dynamic range and up to 13+stops with Dynamic Range Boost Mode. I think we can all agree that more detail is always welcome, especially in tricky lighting conditions.
Another important feature making its return is the unlimited recording time meaning you can record a whole live event, action sequence or interview without the stress of worrying about the camera cutting out after 30 minutes.
With the improved tracking on the all-new 25.2 megapixel sensor you can capture all the action in the world around you.
The GH6 remains fully weather-sealed even with the all-new built-in cooling system meaning you can continue to shoot photos and videos in the rain, hail, sand or snow or at least until you get your perfect shot.
So, we know how good the Lumix GH6 is at creating movies but it is also a very competitive camera for stills shooters as well.
The updated High-Resolution mode allows you to capture photos at up to 100MP. You'll never miss a shot with the 3.68 million dot Electronic View Finder and with the variable angle rear touch screen, you see the shot from any angle.
