The ECU Alumni Association hosts the Pirate Alumni Road Race, a 5K and a 1-mile fun run. This community fundraiser supports East Carolina Alumni Scholarships and the fund awards nearly $50,000 every year. Many of the scholarship recipients volunteer or run in the event.
