FORT WORTH ISD STUDENTS, PARENTS, AND EDUCATORS ASKED TO PROVIDE INPUT ON TECHNOLOGY
Survey Is Open Now
The Fort Worth ISD wants parents, students, and educators to help design the District’s Technology Plan for the future. This all happens as the District returns to total in-person instruction on August 16.
Stakeholders are invited to answer a short survey about their technology experiences and preferences.
Students and parents are being asked to share their opinions about technology options in the classroom and other learning experiences. Educators will weigh in on what instruction technology they would like to use. When all of these data are in, this information will go to the design team who will build the Fort Worth ISD Technology Master Plan.
Participants may access the survey here.

FWISD employees can enroll for 2021-2022 benefits 24/7 via www.mybenefitshub.com/fortworthisd through August 20. All enrollment elections made during the period are effective September 1, 2021-August 31, 2022.
Recently, Inside FWISD reached out to the Benefits Department for more details about what employees can expect when contacting the call center hotline August 5-20. Check out the Q&A below.
Q: Who will I speak with when I contact the call center?
A: Knowledgeable benefit enrollers.
Q: What are the call center hours of operation?
A: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call center services are available August 5-20
Q: What type of assistance can I anticipate receiving from a call center session?
A: Employees can complete the entire open enrollment process. Enrollers will be on the line to answer all open enrollment questions and walk employees entirely through electing their 2021-2022 benefits. Employees will need internet access via a computer, tablet or smartphone to complete the enrollment process.
Q: When I call in, is there any particular information I should have on hand?
A: Employees will need their username and password to log onto the benefits portal:
The Username Is:
The first six (6) characters of the employee's last name, followed by the first letter of their first name and the last four (4) digits of their Social Security Number.
The Password Is:
Last Name (excluding punctuation) followed by the last four (4) digits of the employee's Social Security Number.
“Username and passwords are lowercase only”
If employees are enrolling a dependent for benefits, they will need the dependent’s date of birth and Social Security number for enrolling in or continuing enrollment.

A: Employees may use District computers to enroll for benefits or log on from a city library device.
Q: Are there any in-person opportunities for open enrollment assistance?
A: No. For safety precautions, onsite enrollment assistance will not be available. Assistance is being provided to employees via telephone only. Employees are encouraged to refer to the postcard mailed to their home address for the call center schedule.
Q: What if I miss the designated call center date for my District facility?
A: Please review the postcard mailed to your home address for make-up dates.
Q: What should I do if the call center is experiencing a high-call volume?
A: Employees may leave a message with their name and return phone number, and an enroller will follow up to assist them.
Q: Are translation services available via the call center?
A: Yes. Spanish translators are available.
Q: Typically, about how long will a call center session take?
A: The length of the session really depends on the questions an employee may have. Most sessions average 5-10 minutes with the duration of calls taking a maximum 20-30 minutes.
Q. How can I verify my monthly or semi-monthly insurance premiums?
A. Employees may review their “Consolidated Enrollment Form” after completing the enrollment process. The form can be printed or emailed for confirmation of their 2021-2022 benefit elections.

Record Number of FWISD Teachers Apply for Chairs for Teaching Excellence Awards
Fort Worth ISD had another standout year of applications for the Chairs for Teaching Excellence Award program. A record 157 teachers across the program’s 16 categories applied for the chance to win a $5,000 cash award and carry the title of Chair for Teaching Excellence for one year.
Submitting the application of essay questions is the first step in a rigorous three-part process to be named Chair for Teaching Excellence. To be eligible to apply, teachers either had to have been a Classroom Teacher of the Year during the last five years or had to demonstrate on their application how they are leaders in and out of the classroom. The application also included questions about teaching and fostering student engagement during a pandemic.
Later this summer, selection committees from each of the 16 teaching categories will review and evaluate all 157 applications. The committees will select finalists for each category.
Finalists will be notified this fall and will be asked to submit a demonstration teaching video for committees to review and evaluate. The last step in the process will take place in late October, when selection committees interview each finalist to determine the Chair for Teaching Excellence winner in each category.
Each year, the Fort Worth ISD Chairs for Teaching Excellence awards program recognizes outstanding classroom teachers in 16 categories. Modeled after the university level chair program, the Fort Worth ISD program is unique in three respects: its role in Pre-K-12 public school setting; its rigorous selection process; and its strong support from the business community. Exemplary teachers who win this award receive $5,000 and the title of Chair of Teaching Excellence for one year. Dedicated partnership sponsors have provided cash awards since the program’s inception in 1994.
The program welcomes Facebook and The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (HSC) as new title sponsors for the 2021-2022 Chairs for Teaching Excellence.
