Rick and Barbara Anderson Fellowship

Rick Anderson was born to be a Gator.

He attended his first Gator football game before he was one year old, and his first job was selling corsages at football games. He was active in Little League baseball and football as a child. After he graduated from Gainesville High School in 1963 he started college at the University of Florida.

It was only natural that Rick would meet his future wife, Barbara, at the place he loved so much. Barbara shared his passion for sports and the two were married in 1968. After 38 years in Atlanta, the Andersons returned to their true home: Gainesville.

The Rick and Barbara Anderson Fellowship offers the opportunity to record and archive the local sports history of Gainesville and Alachua County for research and display. A generous gift from the Andersons has funded the research that has led to the creation of Gators and Beyond: A Sports History of Alachua County. This continues to be an ongoing project that we hope will enrich our knowledge of local sports history for years to come.
