Jordan & Kayla Granite Falls, Minnesota

Kayla and Jordan Anderson couldn’t imagine calling any other place but Granite Falls, “home.” They are involved in the active community that is home to an excellent education system, great healthcare, quality local businesses, and friends and family that are just a short drive away—the perfect place to raise their three young children.

I was born and raised in Granite Falls. I’ve always had a love for my hometown and knew this is where I wanted to raise a family.

As Kayla reminisces on growing up in Granite Falls, she recalls spending a lot of time at her parent’s flooring store downtown, Aus Floors and More. She enjoyed talking to customers, visiting other businesses on main street, going for coffee with her mom, and getting donuts from her family’s bakery—the famous Carl’s Bakery.

Knowing just how important community support is for local businesses, the Andersons are happy to support the many other family owned and operated businesses in Granite Falls.

We are all for shopping local, which is great because we have all sorts of good shopping here. Falls Boutique and Stella and Poppy are our go-to. Whether you need a gift or something for yourself, you will find it at one of these stops.

While her and Jordan went off to college after high school, they both knew their home was in Granite Falls and returned after graduating. Jordan farms and Kayla works at the Avera Granite Falls Health Center as a Radiologic Technologist, helps her parents run their business, and stays home to raise their children. Nothing makes Kayla happier than seeing their children grow and thrive in the same community that she did.

Growing up in a small town, I’ve been best friends with my friends since we were babies and now our kids are best friends. I know why I enjoyed my childhood growing up in Granite Falls and I can see my kids doing the same.

Their children attend Bert Raney Elementary School, where the staff is “wonderful, caring, and full of enthusiasm.” The Andersons are grateful for the school, as well as multiple trustworthy and caring child care operations in Granite Falls. Their children have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of programs. Wrestling, basketball camps, and swimming lessons are just a few of the activities that keep them busy.

A family favorite is the Kilowatt Community Center right in town. They have a family membership and are there often to go swimming. They even have hosted birthday parties there. The public library, Granite Bowl, Granite Run Golf Course, Kiwanis Popcorn Stand, A Taste in Time Ice Cream Shop, Tolley’s Bar & Grill, and the local parks are some of their go-to places, as well. Western Fest is always a highly anticipated event in the Anderson household. Every June, they look forward to the children’s night downtown, parade, rodeo, and street dances.

Kayla is grateful to have grown up in such a safe, close-knit, supportive community and, now, getting to watch her children do the same is something she will always cherish.

Living in a small town you feel like you are one big family. You don’t get that just anywhere. We feel blessed to live, work, and raise our children in this community.
