In LIRA this half term, we have read a wide variety of texts and worked on various skills.
We have read a wide variety of texts such as “malamander”, “There’s a boy in the girls’ bathroom” And A variety of Suspense pieces of writing.
We have worked on our inference and deduction skills, investigated the deeper meaning of texts and practised answering 3-mark questions.
Our first literacy outcome this half term was to write a horror narrative scary enough to scare your grandma.
We read a variety of examples in order to identify what makes a good horror narrative and magpied as much vocabulary as possible.
We then learnt and practised a variety of writing techniques which would help us to compose our horror narrative: Short sentences, figurative language and dialogue.

Our second literacy outcome was to write a non-chronological report. We explored how a non-chronological report is structured and what writing features are needed to write a good one.
We then learnt and practised a variety of writing techniques which would help us to compose our report: Generalisers, sophisticated conjunctions and punctuating a longer list.

We have been extremely busy in maths this half term. We have been learning about...
Our topic this half-term has had a DT focus!
First of all, to hook us into our learning we received a letter from Aston Martin asking us to create, design and evaluate an electric car. We were also lucky enough to have real Aston Martin Vantage visit our school!
We explored nets and joining mechanisms to help us create the shell of our vehicle.
We learnt lots of impressive skills to help us manufacture our cars: accurate measuring, cutting and sanding.
We added electrical components in order to make our cars move.
Our science focus this half-Term has been Animals including humans.
We were have learnt about How to be healthy and the effect of drugs on the body.
Our focus in PE this half term has been dance. More specifically, line dancing.
We have learnt a variety of moves such as a grapevine, v-step and hitch. We then put together our own routine.
There has been lots of reason to celebrate this half-term. We have had lots of children who have won certificates, Mystery read, weekly points prizes and achieved 10/10 in their spelling.
