What Is "Designing Humane Technology?"

Dr. E. O. Wilson, a Sociobiologist states this, "“The real problem of humanity is the following We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions and godlike technology.”(Wilson) The concept of designing humane technology involves creating technology that is beneficial to the body, culture, and earth. In terms of the body, humane technology is designed to enhance the physical and mental well-being of individuals. This means that it should not cause physical harm, such as repetitive strain injuries, and should not be addictive or have negative effects on mental health. In terms of culture, humane technology should support and enrich the communities in which it is used. It should not be used to manipulate or control individuals, and should promote inclusivity and diversity. Finally, in terms of the earth, humane technology should be environmentally sustainable. It should not contribute to pollution or waste, and should be designed with the long-term health of the planet in mind.

In what ways does it affect the human body?

When designing humane technology, it is important to consider the effects that technology can have on the human body.
