Samuel Wexler strives to share all that is real and pure. Whether it takes the form of music, words, motion or art, Samuel creates from the soul. Born in 1988, he first fell in love with the violin over 20 years ago. Beginning with classical training, he quickly discovered his biggest musical strength to be improvisation, and has delved into various musical styles such as electronica, live looping, gypsy, jazz, Indian, experimental, bluegrass, alternative, rock and string quartet. Samuel is an aspiring multi-instrumentalist, using violin, viola, mandolin, guitar, ukulele, keyboard, percussion and voice in both studio production.

Samueltanous is a multi-instrumental live loop project from violinist Samuel Wexler. This performance is like a blank musical canvas, painted with a unique blend of sounds every iteration. Inspired by a life full of travel, Samueltaneous is infused with sounds from around the world. All recorded live, no two performances are the same, but the goal is always to share something real, pure, and alive with attentive listeners.

"I have loved the process of creating a solo performance over the past 5 years, but cannot understate the joy I have always gotten, and continue to to find in collaboration with musicians of various styles. It was through spontaneous sit-ins with diverse musicians that I naturally discovered my unique voice with the violin."

Envision Festival 2013, I was feeling Midnite's set so deeply in my body and soul that I felt a burning inspiration in my gut to play violin. I had been learning to simply trust that deep voice in my gut when it speaks, so I only made excuses for why not to play for just a second before obeying. I grabbed my violin from backstage and started playing acoustically by the side of the stage, a ways down. It didn't matter to me if anyone except me heard, I just needed to accompany their music with the soaring violin lines bursting in my heart. The acoustic violin sound sailed over the sound of the speakers into the ears of lead singer Vaughn Benjamin, who looked down, pointed at me, and motioned for me to come up onto the stage. Animated by potent inspiration, I felt almost as if I was witnessing myself act from the third person as I walked right up onto the stage. Vaughn held the microphone right up to my violin and I let it sing. It was one of the most inspiring and defining moments of my early career. Everything flowed and clicked into place effortlessly that night. Vaughn Benjamin recently died (Nov. 4, 2019), and it's hard to describe how grateful I feel that life gifted me such a powerful memory with a legend.
In flashes of inspiration, I have often found myself unexpectedly performing with new artists! The pictures above span high school, college, and into adulthood, though my first year in Beijing (2017-2018).

"I hope that the sound of my music serves as a sort of life line to help pull people back into the present moment."

I love to play my heart out for people who truly listen and appreciate what I am sharing. It inspires me to continue building relationships with people who create intentional gatherings to cultivate healthy and conscious communities. The photos above are from Tulum Treehouse, Mexico, where I have always felt this type of support while playing.

Beijing北京 2018

I feel honored to be a part of the incredible legacy of human music, and the rich tradition of the violin. I feel blessed everyday that this is my path. I am eternally grateful for amazing violinists, teachers and parents, who have made my life as a violinist possible.

When my dad took me to see violin legend, Itzhak Perlman, for my 16th birthday, it inspired me to start playing the violin again, with a new passion! Later in life I had to the opportunity to meet him!

The violin has been one of my greatest teachers throughout life.

I am so grateful that the violin called to me from a young age :)

The violin is an incredible gift to the world which transcends the player. Its voice allows us to feel and express deep emotions, and I believe we haven't even begun to understand the role its vibration is playing in the evolution of our consciousness. When at my best, I feel that rather than the violin being my instrument, that I am the instrument of the violin, and the creative force that gives life to music. I hope to become an ever more clear channel for this force to flow through.
