Term 2A Weeks 5 & 6

In preparation for our planned trip on Wednesday, we recapped on some previous learning in R.E. on the story of Buddha. The children represented the story in a story map format. We had planned to write our own versions of the story, but time got the better of us in the end and it seems our trip wasn’t meant to be either as the Buddhist Centre were not there to receive us when we arrived on Wednesday. What a rollercoaster of emotions we felt! We made the most of the opportunity to talk about the excitement we’d felt that waned into disappointment when we accepted our trip was a non event! We still haven’t given up hope that we will get to go, but we’ll all have to watch this space.

In Science, we began to learn about food chains. The children were making their own food chains and were thinking about which habitat they were from. They learned ‘producers’ are at the beginning of food chains with ‘consumers’ following.

Lawson showed great knowledge this week so he got to wear our special Scientist’s jacket. I think he’s pretty pleased with himself!

In Maths, we have completed work on measuring the length of objects in centimetres and then we practised measuring longer lengths in metres.

A little later than planned, we thought about Internet Safety. The children talked about what they needed to do to stay safe online and after watching some videos online we also thought about how they would like to see the internet improve in the coming years.

And just like that, a half term, six weeks have passed in a flash! Next half term is shorted again - let’s see how much learning we can squeeze in. Happy holidays!
