LMS Raises Record Amount for American Heart Association!

Sponsored by our PE Department, LMS students have been raising money all year for the American Heart Association. Combining the funds raised from Red Out Day, Envelope Collection, and Dodgeball for Heart our Rebels raised an astonishing $9,513- our highest total ever! Every $50 helps to save 1 life, so as a school community we have saved over 190 lives, which is incredible! We are so proud of all of the kids’ hard work! Thank you all for all of the help with this amazing accomplishment. Special thanks to Mr. Helfrich, Mrs. Lothian, and Mrs. Holtz for leading these worthy efforts at LMS!

Last Friday, Larson Students who participate in the Science Olympiad and Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit had the opportunity to visit the FRIB at MSU. This was a historic opportunity as the official ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Monday. The FRIB is the premier linear particle accelerator in the world and is 20 years in the making at a cost of $700 million dollars. Michigan has solidified their position as a global leader in next generation of nuclear science. As a result, a Nobel prize is most certainly in the offing in the following decades so stay tuned!
