COUNCIL MEETING

The next regular City Council meeting is Tuesday, November 15, 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

GRANTS OF $3,000 AVAILABLE FOR EARTHQUAKE RETROFITTING

On the heels of a 5.1 earthquake in San Jose this week, consider strengthening your home with the help of up to a $3,000 seismic retrofit grant available from the State of California. PARKS AND RECREATION

FREE FOOD BOX FOR OLDER ADULTS

The Temple City Farmers Market has partnered with Volunteers of America to provide free food boxes to older adults in the community. The food box reservations are required by November 15, 2022 and can be made by calling 626-710-7069 or by email at templecity.CFMS@yahoo.com. The distribution will take place at the Farmers Market located in the City Hall parking lot on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 8:00am – 11:00am.

LIGHTS ON TEMPLE CITY

Grab your mittens and your wish list and jingle over to Lights On TC on Friday, December 2nd, from 5:00pm – 9:00pm! This dazzling family favorite event held at Temple City Park will feature sled rides, real snow play areas, food, arts and crafts, entertainment, and of course, a chance to visit with Santa, plus much more! Be sure to catch the parade at 7:00pm along Las Tunas Dr. and watch the magic as Santa comes down the street! The lighting of the City’s holiday tree will commence at Temple City Park at the conclusion of the parade. For more information please CLICK HERE.

HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST

Calling all homes and businesses! The annual Holiday Decorating Contest launches December 7-8, 2022. Residents and business owners alike are encouraged to show their festive spirit by dusting off those holiday decorations and untangling those holiday lights. The holidays are made for celebrating! There is no need to register, judging takes place on the evenings of December 7th and 8th. Winners will received a lawn sign and recognition by the City Council. YOUTH WINTER CAMP

Are you looking for something chill to put your kids in this winter break? Join us for our Winter Camp at Live Oak Park, beginning December 26, 2022 through January 6, 2023 from 8:00am to 6:00pm. Registration opens November 21st and is $140 per session. Participants will engage in a variety of fun activities, including games, arts and crafts, sports, and educational activities, plus a field trip! Parents will be sent a Winter Camp policy guide, registration form, and emergency forms that must be completed prior to the start of camp. Additionally, parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend Parent Orientation on December 20th at 6:30pm via Zoom. For more information please CLICK HERE.

SENIOR ACTIVITIES AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER

All your favorite activities are returning the to the Community Center at Live Oak Park! Choose from a variety of programs and activities and renew friendships, there is something for everyone. For more information contact the Community Center at 626-579-0461.

  • Bingo: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 1:00pm – 2:30pm
  • Bunco: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from 1:00pm – 2:30pm
  • Mahjong: 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 11:00am – 1:00pm
  • Movie Matinee: Fridays from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Pickleball : Fridays from 8:00am – 11:00am at Live Oak Park Tennis Courts

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Basketball time is here! Registration is now open for Temple City’s Youth Basketball Co-Ed League for ages 3.5 years through 8th grade. Boys and girls in our popular basketball league play in a fun environment and compete in games and playoffs while practicing friendly competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Practices meet twice weekly after school, and games are on Saturdays or during the week, depending on divisions. More information can be found HERE.

  • Program runs November 28- March 4 with playoff from March 4 – March 18
  • Age Groups: 3.5-5 years old, 1st- 2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, 5th-6th grade, 7th-8th
  • Day/Time: Varies -Practices meet twice weekly after school, and games are on Saturdays or during the week, depending on divisions. ( No class Dec 24- Jan 8). Practices will be Mon & Wed or Tues & Thur depending on the division and practice site.
  • Games begin January 14, and Playoffs from March 4th-March 18th
