BACHELORPROGRAM GENK

* In the first year you lay the foundation and you learn the necessary skills. You develop and shape an idea into a scenario and storyboard. You will design, animate, assemble and create sounddesign . You will learn the most important animation applications and techniques in 2D, 3D and stop motion. You gradually come into contact with all facets of the production process...

*In the second year you will continue to work on your technical skills and you will learn to function fully creatively within the production flow of an animated film. You work both traditionally and digitally and with mixed media. In this way, in addition to contemporary animation technologies, you will also discover the traditional..

* In the third year you research .Your personal view of society, your evolution as a filmmaker and artist, your intention to visualise and tell stories, will be the triggers to research and develop your personal style in an individual trajectory ..

At the start of the course, we do not expect you to invest heavily in material. The campus provides the material you need to get started. In the higher years it is useful if you have a decent laptop and / or drawing tablet with the necessary software

MASTERPROGRAM GENK

After your bachelor's degree, you can choose between a one-year artistic master and a two-year educational master.

In the artistic master you make a personal master project, building on the results of the research you did in your third bachelor year. In your master project you explore the limits of the medium

During the master year, the student follows an internship.

REANIMA GENK

EUROPEAN JOINT MASTER IN ANIMATION IS A NEW ERASMUS MUNDUS JOINT MASTER DEGREE (EMJMD) IN THE AREA OF ANIMATION AND THE CREATIVE ARTS.

THIS MASTER COURSE THOROUGHLY EXPLORES ALL FIELDS OF ANIMATION, FROM FICTION NARRATIVE TO DOCUMENTARY AND EXPERIMENTAL USES OF ANIMATION IN EXPANDED FIELDS.

The program has an original mobility scheme that takes the students on an educational and creative journey from Belgium, where they will explore the foundations of narrative animation filmmaking, to Finland, where they will strengthen their technical and artistic animation skills and experiment with the craft, to Portugal, where they will use the tools of animation to depict and reflect upon reality, using the processes of animation as a form of documenting the world and act upon it.

Throughout the four semesters the students will acquire differentiated competences, explore diverse methods and approaches, while at the same time working on their graduation animation projects. These projects can take the form of fiction, documentary or experimental animation of a various nature that combine techniques and multidisciplinary approaches.

SEEING SOUND GENK

Creative collaborations between composers and film makers

SEEING SOUND is a multicampus course organized at Luca School of Arts, campus C-mine and campus Lemmens. In 2012 – 2015 it began as an education innovation project supported by the OOF Fund at KU Leuven University. Students in musical composition and animation film direction collaborate in a co-creative way and develop non-conventional short films.
