Palma Riad full of lights and shadows

November 10, 2022 ... When you enter the Palma Riad hotel, you enter a sophisticated refuge where you can discover a new Palma de Mallorca. Like a coat, Palma Riad embraces you in a warm velvety atmosphere full of lights and shadows, because Palma de Mallorca, symbol of light, sun and Mediterranean spirit, also has a sensual, mysterious and exotic side...

Long ago, when spices and all kinds of goods from the Silk Road were traded, Palma de Mallorca received inspiration from the most distant civilizations such as the Chinese, Indian or Persian. These new influences turned the walled city into an oasis in the middle of the sea full of flavors, tones and aromas from all over the world. Reminiscent of this exoticism, Palma Riad transports you to another era and other worlds where dark colors almost black, chandeliers, textures, brass and the charm of the old noble house are the protagonists.

Here one breathes calm and silence. It is an intimate and complex space where everything has been thought out in detail. At its heart beats a garden with a tiled pool of Arabic influence and the constant flow of the fountain. It is a banquet of contrasts, an oxymoron where luxury is imperfect. It preserves the 18th century curved walls and original floors, as well as some wallpapers mixed with Asian furniture over 200 years old and more contemporary elements such as velvets and paintings by Mar Aguiló.

Each of the rooms is a world apart from the others, as its furniture and decoration, as well as its distribution, change radically from one to another, and because it is a historic building, each room is adapted to the character of the original building with the utmost respect and charm. The green tiling so recurrent throughout the hotel is unique, designed and produced especially for the project, everything is scenographic, everything is designed to excite. And in that sense, the lighting is especially important. The light points, always dimmable, and the mirrors tactically placed here and there are able to create different scenes and generate a play of reflections in all the rooms.

No corner escapes this halo of mystery and enjoyment. Examples of this are the exuberant bathrooms and bathtubs, inspired by the Hammans, made with Moroccan tadelakt, and the brass washbasins made especially for the hotel in Morocco. The rooms, the bathrooms, the beds, the divans, everything is generous, extravagant, passionate and invites the delight of the senses.
