Welcome from our Principal Designate
September marks one year until Shireland CBSO Academy welcomes our first cohort of Year 7 and 12 students. Building work is now well under way on the site and applications are already open for places in Year 7 in September 2023; there is a real sense of excitement amongst everyone involved in preparing for the Academy’s opening.
The autumn term is an important time for students and families to research schools and apply for places in Years 7 and 12 and I look forward to meeting many of you on our Year 7 Open Day on Saturday 24th September.
David Green, Principal Designate

Music Aptitude Programme
We have a limited number of Year 7 places available (15) on our music aptitude programme for students who are already exceptionally gifted or talented in music.
Obtaining a place at the Academy via this music aptitude route means that these students will be expected to be leaders amongst their peers and an example of key characteristics of a successful musician through, for example, their outstanding performance skills. They will be expected to act as ambassadors for the Academy and support our work with our local primary schools and community groups to help shape the Shireland CBSO students of the future.
Students considering this route should complete our music aptitude application process in addition to their Year 7 application by Monday 26 September 2022.
