Harry Potter Pop-Up Wand Shop

In Harry Potter World, customers can buy interactive wants and perform spells with them at various, specifically marked areas of the park.

The tile above displays both the spell and the wand movement necessary to cast the spell. These are placed in front of every spell casting location.

I want to create an interactive space where people can rent out the interactive wands and cast spells with them. This would be an opportunity for people to have a feel for the wands before they buy one and give customers a chance to understand how the wand works and how fun it is to cast a spell with the wand.

The space plan to the right is a trade show set up, but I am still entertaining the idea of how this would be set up and where.

The sketches above demonstrate how the space plan would translate into an interactive space.

I created an initial rough model of the concept in Solidworks, rendered it in Keyshot, and made touch ups in Adobe Photoshop.

The four pillars would each be an opportunity to practice a spell, same as the large displays in the middle. People can rent wands from the counter.

Ideally, this would be a pop up display that set up in parks and shopping centers.

Floor Plan

The floor plan of this exhibit allows the customers to rent their wands, take a patronus quiz, and lead them into the forest to cast spells.

Above is the rendered floor plan and rendered hero shot, featuring the wand kiosk, the patronus quiz, and the spell boxes.

The journey of the customer starts at the entrance, where a witch or wizard will appear to explain how the Potter Park works. The customer will then walk to the wand kiosk to rent a wand.

After renting the wand, the customer has the option to take a patronus quiz to discover his or her patronus. If the customer takes the quiz, he or she can cast their patronus at the end of the park.

The customer then gets to cast their first spell, with the help of another witch of wizard that will appear behind the spell box. This is a popular spell, called wingardium leviosa, which will levitate the papers.

Next, the customer turns toward some cabinet doors and vanish into the Forbidden Forest.

In the Forbidden Forest, there are several spell boxes for the customer to test their wands on. The forest is poorly lighted and foggy to create a mysterious feel, just like the forest in the Harry Potter series. From here, the customer has the option to test his or her patronus, return his or her wand, buy his or her wand. The customer can now exit the park and consider visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

If the customer chose to cast his or her patronus, then he or she will enter the patronus box. They will be greeted by a witch or wizard who will teach them how to cast the patronus. Upon casting the patronus, the animal will burst from the walls and run around the customer until it fades away.
