The Moon By Cayleigh

Today we are talking about the moon and some of the things it does to the earth.

Lunar Tides

This is a low tide

Tides are created becuase the Earth and the moon are attracted to each other, just like magnets are attracted to each other. The moon tries to pull anything on the Earth to bring closer. But, the Earth is able to hold onto everything except water. Since the oceans are always moving, the Earth cannot hold onto it, and the moon is able to pull at it.

Every day, there are two high tides and two low tides. The ocean is constantly moving from high tide to low tide. The gravitational attraction of the moon causes the ocean to bulge out in the direstion of the moon. As the moon travels around the earth, and as they together, travel around the sun, the combind gravitational forces cause the world's oceans to rise and fall. Since the earth is rotating while this is happening, two tides occur each day.

Moon Eclipse

An Eclipse happens very rarly and is an amazing sight. But don't look to long because once the moon is gone you will be looking right at the sun and 76% will become blind.

Moon facts and jokes

1. How does the moon cut his hair?

eclipse it ;)

13% of people believe that the moon is made of cheese.

The Moon is basically an Earth Satellite.

It is the only other sort of planet we have visited besides Earth because we live on Earth.

the moon is not made out of cheese even if it looks like it in this picture

Blood Moon

Earth's shadow is red at the edges for the same reason the sunset is red: When sunlight is scattered by passing through Earth's atmosphere, the other colours of the spectrum are removed. In a solar eclipse, the moon casts its shadow on Earth.
Thanks for listening 4M and until next time!
