What's Considered Beautiful in America today? By: Dallas Thomas
In today's America there's a stigma that everyone has to look perfect and not have one flaw. So, they change up their appearance to please other people. Even though that they regularly wouldn't change their appearance in the first place they will now. Because someone said something about how they look bad or on the lines of that theme. 85% of women wanted their hips to be narrower.
Aging is when the skin gets a little more wrinkles in them as you age, which is normal. But, in America aging isn't a trend. Society wants you to look like the models that's on TV and Magazines. In todays age 93% of women feel the pressure of trying to look young and the pressure is increasing as time goes on.
When you think of losing weight many men think of women. In which they should say that because that's pretty stereotypical that women are the only ones that need to lose weight. Well, you can put that stereotype to rest. Because of the 97% of women that wanted to lose weight. The men was right behind the women at a staggering 86% of men wanted to lose weight.
The last point which was losing weight could be understandable to be at a healthier weight, and men was knocking at the door. The men was pretty close. But, the next point is body image. Men at 22% wanting a bigger butt and women was at 11%! I was a little bit shocked that men would be the leader in this statistic. But, I guess that would be thinking stereotypically.
Not only does body image, aging and weight determine what kind of person you are. I think this's the most stereotypical out of all of them. This point is about hair color. Men voted that both brunettes and blondes are beautiful. But, they also voted that brunettes was both intelligent and trustworthy. Then blondes that seem to be the confident ones found out to be voted as the most "irritable". While redheads weren't even in the discussion. Which some men might find redheads beautiful.
My opinion is that it depends on the person how they want to look. If they choose to look like the model that's on the cover of a magazine that's fine. Also, if they don't choose to look like the model on the magazine cover that's fine too. It's all about personal preference. If everyone acted and looked the same the world would be a boring place. There are all shapes and sizes for a reason.
