Content Info For The Week

Math (Swindell, Beasley, and Meeks):

This week, we will begin the Pythagorean theorem and explore right triangles.

Algebra I (Meeks):

This week, we will begin exploring polynomials. We will classify them as well as adding, subtracting, and multiplying them.

ELA (Styron and Bright):

This week scholars will use context as a clue to the meaning of an unknown word or phrase, practice using the prefixes -in and -un, and continue to use active reading, viewing, and listening as they continue working through their individualized and differentiated app segments and continue reading their selected novels.

ELA (Lee):

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue working on Unit 2. During this unit, we will focus on how an author can effectively create suspense and tension in works of fiction. We will read Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Tell-Tale Heart and do a deep dive into the reliability (or unreliability) of the narrator.

9th Grade Lit (Lee):

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will continue working on Unit 2. During this unit, students will focus on the components of an effective argument in both literature and our writing. We will be discussing Maya Angelou's usage of dialect and imagery in her short story When I Lay My Burden Down, as well as any potential areas for bias.

Science (Carver and Lewis):

Students will be learning about the conservation of mass dealing with open and closed systems.

Social Studies (MacArthur and Lewis):

This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will begin learning about the Legislative branch of Georgia's government. Students will learn the process of how a bill becomes a law in Georgia's General Assembly, how members of the house and senate are elected, and what the qualification for voting are.
