May 2023

In the month of May we completed our financial stewardship sermon series called: "Promises to live by". It was and is a very impactful sermon series and many people experienced freedom to make needed changes in the financial area. We learned that our relationship with money is a direct outflow of our relationship with God. That money makes a good servant but very bad boss and that our economic status does not determine the way God loves us nor our salvation standing. Rather that God has placed principles in His Word that when we apply them we will experience the breakthrough we need. Our "Get out of debt" financial coaching was also a resounding success and more and more people desire to get input to make the necessary changes. As a result we are looking at ways to build on what we learned this month so that we can start to create wealth and not be on the edge anymore. So watch this space. Furthermore, as a Church body we had other great experiences that pushed the kingdom of God forward and we are excited about what is lying ahead. To God be the glory. All my love Ps Serge Solomons

WHAT HAPPENED IN MAY?

MOTHER'S DAY: "On the 15th of May we celebrated Mother’s Day! It was a very special moment where we could honour the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, bonus-moms, stand-in-moms, moms-in-waiting and our spiritual moms as well as to reach out to those mothers who might be grieving. A very beautiful blessing and prayer was given by Ps Marné followed by the children rushing in to give their very best, handmade, gifts to their moms. (Many sets of keys now have new keyrings!) Mom’s (only) were invited to each take a cupcake to accompany their coffee after church, which was immediately shared with all of their children (and some husbands!). A very special service which spoke to the hearts of many in attendance!" - Melissa Werth
HEALING PRAYER NIGHT: We had a very blessed healing prayer night on the third Thursday of May. We believe in the God of miracles who wants to heal and restore us. We spent time reflecting on James 5:14‭-‬15 NLT: "Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven." Everyone received prayer and there was valuable one to one ministry.
FIRESTARTERS PRAYER MINISTRY TEAM TRAINING: "As Firestarter team we are super excited and at the same time so humbled under His mighty hand to be part of this new prayer ministry that was birthed during the first week of May. Jesus commanded us to pray for one another and His Word clearly gave us direction to our highest calling: Ephesians 4: 11 – 13: “And he gave apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” As team we depend on His presence and the intimate relationship that He intended for each of us as the church, to have with Him. Our hearts are expectant of the demonstrations of God’s love and power to restore and heal the church." - Mariéline van Deventer
"GET OUT OF DEBT" FINANCIAL COURSE: "The Personal Finance course came at a point in my financial life when I was ready to make improvements. Not only did it deepen my understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, savings and debt management, among others, but I also gained the confidence and support to improve my financial habits and self-discipline. Being new to the Every Nation community, this course has allowed me to connect with people who also want to use Biblical wisdom to improve their financial lives. The entire experience was and continues to be enlightening and uplifting, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for myself and everyone else who participated in this course." - Tariro Tagar
BABY DEDICATION: This month we celebrated with Len and Natasha van Heerden by dedicated their beautiful son, Sion Tau Gerhardus van Heerden to the Lord. This is always such a blessing!
VREDEDORP SOUP KITCHEN: On the last Sunday of May, we as a church joined hands with Transformation Vrededorp in hosting a soup kitchen for the children. 57 children came together and enjoyed a nice warm cup of soup and a fresh bread roll whereafter we all went to the park for some fun together. There was such beauty in how the children all joined in playing cricket, netball and many other games. There is great need in this community and the Lord has opened a door for us to align with Transformation Vrededorp to invest more of our time and resources in this community, especially toward the children. Our heart is that every person and child of our church community become part of this project as we serve the children of Vrededorp. The next soup kitchen will be on Sunday 25 June, and then following every last Sunday of a month. We are also planning a winter project for them. Keep a lookout on our digital platforms for more information on how you can get involved and be part of this amazing story of Transformation Vrededorp.
WOMEN'S ENCOUNTER EVENING: We all need to pause in the presence of God at some point. What a wonderful gift to be able to do it with other women in our Spiritual Family. This month's Encounter Evening for the ladies was wonderful. Soaking in the presence of the Lord rejuvenates the soul. Looking forward to next time!

Fun Facts about Marguerite...

She once catered at an afternoon tea for the late Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace; she also spoke to the late Prince Philip at another function she worked at in St James' Palace.

She loves cold, rainy weather and if given the option, she would rather travel to a country during the winter, than spending time on a sunny island.
