March 2023 - The 16th Century Palace, CoolRooms Palacio de Luces Relais & Chateaux reopens its doors on March 6th for the new season with the nomination as finalist for "Best Getaway Hotel 2023" by the prestigious publication Conde Nast Traveler and "Best hotel in Spain in a natural environment" in the 2023 National Geographic Travel readers' awards. In addition, CoolRooms Palacio de Luces has been nominated to "World Best" awards of Travel + Leisure, which selects the best travel experiences and invites the most passionate and demanding travelers to rate their experiences.
After completing the last phase of renovation of the spa and its magnificent CoolSuites, the superior category rooms located in the main building of the palace, Palacio de Luces will welcome guests again maintaining its exclusive and meticulous offer, always linked to the wonderful environment that surrounds it in Asturias, and the local gastronomy.
The 44 classic-style rooms and suites, distributed between the palace and a very contemporary annex building, are an extension of the landscapes framed by its windows which invites guests to relax and enjoy the local gastronomy. The spa area with heated pool, contrast showers, relaxation beds, massage cabin, sauna and Turkish bath, are designed for pure relaxation, where it becomes the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle, to disconnect and enjoy a few days of rest.

This restored 16th century palace founded by Juan Victorero "El Viejo", a Spanish nobleman who went to the Americas and returned to his native Asturias bringing influences from the Indies, offering unique experiences to value its roots: Colonial route with lunch in a Guisandera; climb to Picu Pienzu; tastings and pairings; visit to the neighboring anchovy cannery or the surrounding cheese factories; fishing trip with local sailors; excursion to Lastres (considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain); picnic with champagne at the lighthouse; horseback riding routes through the stunning natural environment of the area and an endless number of personalized local experiences that the hotel team will organize exclusively for guests.
Tella, the gastronomic restaurant has received the 'Mesas de Asturias' certification, a recognition of gastronomic excellence, and debuts a new menu by the hand of its new chef Francisco Ruiz, who will captivate guests from the first second.

An Asturian gastronomic experience includes a day of tasting anchovies from the neighboring cannery Anchoas Hazas, with Golden Fork award for best imported product from 106 countries and where, in addition, the product was rated with the highest distinction, 3 stars from the Great Taste Awards in London (taste awards) accompanied with Asturian ciders, another day of tasting Asturian cheeses accompanied by Miguel Puchal's artisan loaves of bread from the Formientu bakery with Asturian wines and dinner or lunch at the gastronomic restaurant Tella to enjoy the short tasting menu (drinks included).
