Roger Williams founded Rhode Island. Roger Williams united the colony and served has its president. he believed in religious freedom.

There was no religious freedom in the areas inhabited by the Puritans. The Puritans were Christians and believed that everyone should believe in god.

In 1636 the geography of Rhode Island conceded of mountains, thick trees, rivers, and poor soil. Farming was very difficult for crops like wheat because of the hard rocky soil.

There main jobs were ship manufacturing and exportation of rum
