ITA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR CONNIE MA | STANFORD UNIVERSITY

Connie Ma

Freshman | Stanford University

ITA Rookie of the Year Award

Connie Ma from Stanford University has been named the 2022 ITA Rookie of the Year Award Winner.

The Pac-12 Rookie of the Year, Connie Ma owns a 32-9 overall singles record this season for Stanford, including a 15-5 mark at the No. 1 singles spot in dual matches.

She is the first freshman to play No. 1 for Stanford since Michaela Gordon in 2017-18. Ma is ranked No. 12 nationally in singles and No. 27 in doubles.

Ma has made an immediate impact with the Cardinal, winning the ITA Northwest Region singles title in the fall with a team-best 9-3 record against nationally-ranked opponents, and in the Spring has earned ITA All-American Singles status for her play.

However, arguably her most impressive run this season came in the NCAA Singles Championship where she was crowned the NCAA National Runner-Up after taking down some of the nations top talent to reach the Championship.

A Letter From Head Coach: Lele Forood

We in the Stanford tennis community are very proud of Connie and the amazing year that she has put together as a freshman.

We are not at all surprised, however, as she came tearing out of the gate and won her first two tournaments in the fall.

Connie inspires her teammates, even in contests of hitting tweeners, and delights our fans at Stanford as well with her juxtaposition of intensity and trick shots.

We all can't wait to see what the future has in store!
