"Records trace the history of soccer back more than 2,000 years ago to ancient China. Greece, and Rome. Parts of Central America also claim to have started the sport; but it was England that transitioned soccer, or what the British and many other people around the world call “football,” into the game we know today."
The history of soccer in England
The birthplace of soccer, or football was in England, after the Danish invasion. The first football game took place somewhere between 1018 and 1042 in the east of England where the locals played 'football' with the severed head of a Danish Prince they had defeated in a battle. Later on, the boys of the village imitated this with an inflated cow bladder.
Several British football clubs formed and associated in 1863 to standardized the rules and to organize the professional leagues.
The first World Cup was held on July 30, 1930, where Uruguay defeated Argentina 4–2
