Stephen & Kelly White Relieve Suffering, Restore dignity, reveal hope

We were both in college (Stephen at the University of Florida and Kelly at the University of Wisconsin) when the Lord pricked our hearts about unreached people groups around the world.

Nearly half of the world is unreached with the gospel, and (barring a miracle from the Lord) it is nearly impossible for billions of people to know the truth about Jesus because there is no one there to tell them. Learning this changed the trajectory of both of our lives, and our desire became being those people to go and tell.

After graduation, the Lord led both of us to serve with Cru® (the name of Campus Crusade for Christ in the U.S.). We served in two different countries in North Africa that are over 99% unreached with the gospel.

In God’s kindness and sovereignty, we met at a conference that year and got married two and a half years later.

Our hearts have always been that we will go unless the Lord closes the door. God opened new doors for us for four years while Stephen was an accountant and Kelly was a public middle school teacher. Then, we felt the Lord leading us back to serve the unreached with Unto™.

Unto is Cru’s humanitarian aid ministry, and our mission is to relieve suffering, restore dignity, and reveal the hope of Jesus in some of the toughest places on earth.

A person’s lack of physical needs creates a barrier to understanding the gospel, and many of the places in the world with the most need are also the most unreached.

Unto partners with local believers and in-country missionaries to do this through three primary initiatives.

1. Food and Agriculture

2. Clean Water

3. Critical Aid

(which includes initiatives like eyeglass clinics, mobility clinics, women's health trainings, disaster relief, and refugee care)

The Great Commandment

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

-Matthew 22:36-39

The Great Commission

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

-Matthew 28:18-20

We believe that living out the Great Commandment is one of the most effective ways to help fulfill the Great Commission so that no one is left without hearing the good news.

We are humbled that God is allowing us to serve Him in this way again. Our mission with Unto is one of our favorite things to talk about, so we'd love to connect with you to share more about how you can partner with us prayerfully and financially in this mission of relieving suffering, restoring dignity, and revealing the hope of Jesus.
