Cover Art for UTSA Pressbooks Crafted by UTSA's very own student communication Designers in Training

DEFAULT IMAGES: EFFECTIVE YET SIMPLE

UTSA's Pressbooks platform can generate standard cover images for OER created by the UTSA community.

While these default Pressbooks covers are functional and ease the self-publishing process, some of these default designs may be too simple.

However, Pressbooks does allow for upload of custom book cover images that override the default settings.

WANT SOMETHING MORE ENGAGING?

If you're looking for a more unique and engaging cover image to draw your readers in, our Student Roadrunner visual designers can help.

The UTSA Libraries and UTSA Department of Communication faculty are partnering to offer custom cover image design services by UTSA Roadrunners enrolled in COM 3623 Commercial Publications.

The Goals

  • Provide a professional experiential graphic design experience for our visual communication students
  • Help UTSA Pressbooks authors achieve the ultimate vision for their books in their final form.

What We Need from You

  1. Your book's primary intended audience(s).
  2. Purpose of the book: what do you hope your book will achieve or inspire in your readers?
  3. Your own vision of what you hope the book and book cover will achieve: a 60 second video description.
  4. Any additional information that you have on hand like the book synopsis and table of contents are also very valuable and will help the students capture your ideal vision for the cover image.

Process

  1. Complete and submit the form below.
  2. UTSA Libraries will receive the request and work with Commercial Publications faculty on a timeline for students to begin and complete the design process.
  3. Our student designers will begin crafting cover images.
  4. If we need more information or clarification, we will reach out to you.
