NL-Austausch Venray/ Mülheim an der Ruhr March 6-10, 2023 Sponsered By the BROSTSTIFTUNG

Monday

The Venray exchange students and teachers got picked up at the hotel by students from our school. When they got here they got told what the program for the week would be. We got sandwiches and drinks before we showed them the school.

On our way to the café we did a City Rallye to show the exchange students our city. We got missions for the rallye, for example to take a picture with some sights. We then met at the Perfetto Café, eating cake and having fun. Then we brought the students from Venray to the hotel so they could settle in.

Afterwards we took them went home with us to eat. Some people also went bowling and some stayed at home and did something else with them. Around 9 pm the students were brought to the hotel and the first day came to an end.

Tuesday

At 10 am we met at the trainstation to go to the Gasometer together. We got a little booklet with small picture outtakes from the exhibition and we had to find them and take a picture. Another quest we got was to make a creative photo with a picture we all like and to write a japanese poem called haiku. When we were done we all went to the Centro together and ate lunch.

After eating lunch together some people went either home/to the hotel or stayed in the Centro to go shopping.

At 6 pm we all gathered at the dancing school Ritter and a woman taught us hip hop.

While waiting for the pizza we all talked a little. The disco started some minutes after we got the pizza. We all had a lot of fun. Everyone was dancing, even the teachers. Since everyone could go to the Dj booth and suggest a song we had some German songs but also Dutch songs.

Wednesday

The Day started at 9 am in school. We got into groups of 6 people and had a project introduced that we had to do. The project was about the future in 15 years. Each group had to choose one of the topics. For example work and jobs,or food we will eat in the future and how we get our food. The groups had 3 hours to finish the presentation about the topic they choosed. We could make a presentation on a poster, a powerpoint or go in a complete other way and do a roleplay or interview. From time to time some people also went out to play in the snow with the others. Right after eating hotdogs each group presented their presentation.

At 2 pm we went to the TSV Viktoria to do crossfit and fitness. After the 2 hour program everyone went home with their exchange students. Some went to the go carts, shopping or stayed home and watched movies or played games with their guests.

Thursday

The fourth day started with a meeting at the main station. When everyone got there we went to the trains and drove to Cologne for 1 hour. We got to Cologne and went to the Chocolate Museum. I think everyone ate at least 3 chocolates- haha. We had 1 hour to go through the museum and to meet back at the starting point. After going through the museum some people also went to the Lindt shop and brought something. At this point this isn’t an advertisement for Lindt. 😊

From the moment we left the museum we made groups to go through the city. Some groups were bigger and some were smaller. Everyone had some hours in their freetime to go to different shops and visit the Kölner Dom. At 5 pm we met at the Restaurant Gaffel am Dom. We ate dinner and had to go back to Muelheim. While sitting in the train to go back we had to wait because the rails somewhere were on fire. After the third announcement we took another transport to go back. At the main station everyone got at McDonalds Mc flurry. And that’s how the last day of the exchange ended.

Friday

After breakfast our Dutch friends left for Venray. We hope to see you again next year😊
