We have had lots of events and activities in school since we returned after the February Half Term Holiday break and there are still plenty taking place before the Easter Holidays. Therefore we are sending this extra EASTER NEWSLETTER to keep you up to date.

We are very happy to report that the new Executive Headteacher of Ward Green Primary School from September 2023 will be Mrs Trickett who is currently the Headteacher at Milefield Primary School. From September 2023 she will be the Executive Headteacher over both schools in our HCAT Trust. As Milefield Primary School is also part of our trust, Mrs Trickett knows and understands the HCAT Trust polices and processes that we follow. Mrs Trickett was in school last week and has met the children. We look forward to seeing her often in the summer term to get to know our staff, children and parents.

Mrs K Trickett

Attendance

Good attendance is crucial if students are to take advantage of the opportunities available to them and complete a successful journey through their time at our school as they move on into higher education or the world of work.

The SCHOOL COUNCIL have decide that the prize for SPRING 2 HALF TERM 100% ATTENDANCE is going to be POPCORN & MOVIE AFTERNOON for children who have 100% attendance during Spring 2 Half Term (February to March 2023). The Movie Afternoon will be held on FRIDAY 31ST MARCH 2023.

Parking around school

POLITE REMINDER TO PARENTS/CARERS - We have recently had a number of complaints from residents near school regarding parking. When dropping off and picking up your child(ren) from school please could we ask that you be mindful and courteous when parking near the school.

I would like to remind parents/carers to park responsibly and in particular NOT to park on pavements, in designated bus stops, restricting the space for those with pushchairs or wheelchairs, blocking the entrances to residents drives and consider how much room they are leaving residents to manoeuvre in and out of their properties.

WGPS's Aspirational Day

At WGPS we would like to invite you and anyone that you may know to take part in our ASPIRATION DAY on TUESDAY 28TH MARCH 2023 between 9.15AM to 11.45AM.

Sustrans Big Walk & Wheel Week

WGPS will be taking part in the 'SUSTRANS BIG WALK & WHEEL' which takes place during the week MONDAY 20TH MARCH to FRIDAY 31ST MARCH 2023. We hope you can all take part in this event to help our school with the UK's biggest walking, wheeling, scooting and cycling challenge.

What you need to do? Encourage your child(ren) to walk, scoot or cycle to school on as many days as possible during the weeks event.

Why we are taking part? It is a great way to build physical activity in children's daily routine which improves their physical health and mental wellbeing. It also helps to reduce congestion and air pollution outside the school gate. Active travel is the best way to bring down the pollution levels. If over 15% of our pupils walk, scoot or cycle to school on the days of this challenge - our school will be entered in to daily prize draws for rewards for school equipment.

Recycling Poster Competition

WGPS's Recycle Poster Competition

WGPS's School Council have decided to hold a RECYCLING POSTER COMPETITION.

All children are invited to design a poster regarding Re-cycling. The designs can be done at home as well as in school on A4 paper. The poster designs need to be based around how we can keep our school, community and the world a cleaner and better place. Our rubbish can harm ourselves and the animals on the land as well as in the oceans. Recycling helps the environment and protects wildlife - our posters will hopefully help to persuade people to recycle more.
