Superintendent Communiqué Midland Public Schools

August 08, 2022

Volume 10 Edition 02

Midland Public Schools District Vision Statement: Lead with respect, trust and courage. Ensure an equitable, collaborative and inclusive culture. Enable all to achieve success.

August 22, 2022

Last week, twenty incoming freshmen from Dow High had the opportunity to participate in a four-day pilot camp to welcome them and help them feel more prepared to start school. During these days, students could tour the school, meet staff, work with Student Leadership Students, and learn skills that will help them succeed throughout high school. Students ended the week with a trip to the Frankenmuth rope and zip line park. Angela Kalcec and Chelsea Berg organized this rewarding program for some of our newest Chargers.

ParentVUE is coming!

MPS has changed student information systems and moved to a system called Synergy. Home Access Center has been replaced with a new product called ParentVUE. You will be able to see everything you could in Home Access Center and more in this new system. In the near future, we will send each parent/guardian an email, to the email we have on file, with instructions on how to log in and the activation code you will need. Please be on the lookout for this email.

American Association of School Customer Service (AASCS)

Over the summer, our Administrative Assistants and Office Professionals completed Customer Service 101, 201, and 301. We appreciate them taking the extra time to go above and beyond!

Central Park, Chestnut Hill, and Plymouth Elementary staff and students worked hard over the summer during a Midland Public Schools' tutoring program held at Central Park Elementary School. The tutoring program was a seven-week program that focused on improving reading and math skills for students across all grade levels.
Our Human Resources Department hosted a drop-in job fair last week. We appreciate the hard work of our staff to make events like this successful. If you're interested in joining the MPS Team, please visit our website for current open positions.
FREE SUMMER MEALS END ... August 18, 2022 at Plymouth Elementary & Midland High School August 19, 2022 at Central Park Elementary & Plymouth Park
Thank you to the MPS Chartwells Food Service staff for all your hard work this summer to make these meals available for community children!

Free School Meals for All Students Has Ended

When the 2021-2022 school year ended, so did free meals for every student. While the federal government funded a program that allowed all students access to free meals during the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress recently declined to continue supporting this program.

If your student qualifies for free or reduced meals, they can still receive them this fall, but you must take action to make it happen. Please complete the 2022-2023 online application

Completing an application is the only way to be considered for free or reduced meals next school year.

For assistance, don't hesitate to get in touch with our Food Service Department at 989-923-5062.

Schools of Choice Applications Available

Schools of Choice applications for the 2022-2023 school year are now available on the MPS website. This includes applications for non-resident students and in-district transfer students.

Please contact Becci Longstreth at longstrethra@midlandps.org or 989-923-5024 with questions.
