Council Meeting

The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 7:30 P.M., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.

Youth Committee

The Youth Committee's last Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Workshop will be held on Thursday, April 27th, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers focusing on essential supplies in an emergency kit. The committee’s last meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 25th at 5:30 p.m.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Community Development Department Monthly Report

The Community Development Department has released its monthly report for February 2023. Building permit valuation in February 2023 was significantly higher than February 2022 (a 104% increase). Fees collected in February 2023 saw a 42% increase over the previous year. The number of permits issued in February 2023 was 57% higher than the previous year. The significant permits issued in January included 4 accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

Planning received 13 new applications in February 2023. These included a 3-unit condominium project, 2 new houses, 5 new ADU applications, 3 house additions, and a modification to a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for a tutoring business.

One business license was issued in February for a travel agency.

Community Preservation was active in February 2023. The number of cases opened were nearly identical to the previous year. 78% of the cases were initiated by the inspector, rather than the public.

PARKS AND RECREATION

Easter Egg Hunt & Pancake Breakfast

The Temple City Parks & Recreation Department is once again offering an Easter Egg Hunt & Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Live Oak Park. Come join the Easter bunny and the community in finding eggs stuffed with candy and enjoy a traditional pancake breakfast. The following are times for the free egg hunts:

  • 0-2 years: 9:00 a.m.
  • 3 years old: 9:15 a.m.
  • 4 years old: 9:30 a.m.
  • 5 years old: 9:45 a.m.
  • 6 years old: 10:00 a.m.
  • 7 years old: 10:15 a.m.
  • 8 years old: 10:30 a.m.
  • 9 years old: 10:45 a.m.

The pancake breakfast, which costs $3 for adults and $2 for children under 12 years old, begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 11:00 a.m. (while supplies last).

Don't forget your Easter basket!

Temple City's Got Talent

Temple City’s Got Talent will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at the La Rosa Elementary School Auditorium. This talent showcase will consist of three divisions (6-10 years old; 11-15 years old; and 16+) and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded in each division. The cost to attend is $2 per person (payable at the door) and children under 4 years old enter for free. Pre-sale of tickets begins April 10th at Live Oak Park Community Center.
