Dear Phoenix Club Member,
Your support has created opportunities beyond belief and impacted me tremendously. I am Ellie Stricker, a captain of the Women’s Lacrosse team from Orlando, Florida. I am graduating in May with a double major in Marketing and Human Resource Management. I am excited to share the amazing things that occur because of your generous donations. Often, you only hear about the accomplishments on the field, but there is so much more. None of this would be possible without the support you provide for our program.
I was drawn to Elon by the potential for growth and opportunities. Starting my freshman year, I was recovering from a torn meniscus and other nagging injuries. While battling these injuries, I was still determined to reach the goals I set forth when committing to Elon: receiving a scholarship, contributing to the success of the team, and making a lasting impact. Fast forward to senior year, I have achieved those goals and more. Knowing donors like you are contributing to scholarships is one of my greatest motivators. I found myself putting forth extra hours into the sport I love so much to position myself for success. Having success both in the classroom and on the field were my two priorities to achieve the scholarship to help pay for my education. This journey has been filled with many ups and downs, late nights, and early mornings, but I could not be more thankful. Thank you for being an essential part of my journey and pushing me to become the best version of myself, both as a student and as an athlete.
As team captain, it is my goal to make a lasting impact. I have created stronger relationships with my teammates, and I understand how my actions can lead them to work harder on and off the field. Because of the scholarships you help provide, Elon has placed incredible teammates in my life. I am truly blessed to not only call them my teammates, but my sisters, and I will be leaving Elon with a family and forever friends.
After Elon, I intend to pursue a career in marketing or human resources. Last summer, I had an internship in Tampa for a company that offers interior solutions for office spaces. During this time, I was able to gain real-world business experience and start to understand where I want to launch my career.
I cannot thank you enough for allowing my teammates and I to build this amazing culture, create lasting friendships, and achieve accomplishments on and off the field. With your gift to Elon Athletics, you have provided students like me with a chance to be a part of something that changes lives forever.
