The ITA Senior Player of the Year honors the senior student-athlete who had the best year among all student-athletes in his/her class.
During her four years at West Florida, Berta Bonardi etched her name into the history books. The Argonaut senior was ranked as the No. 1 singles player in the country in three separate seasons. Bonardi won the ITA Cup Division II Singles title in back-to-back years. She is a four-time ITA All-American and a two-time Gulf South Conference Player of the Year.
A Letter from West Florida Women's Tennis Head Coach, Derrick Racine
Here at the University of West Florida, we have been very privileged to have a player of Berta’s caliber on our team.
During her time here, Berta has not only been one of the best players in all of Division II but has also developed into a great mentor and leader to her teammates. In addition to her successes on the court, Berta has also set a high standard for herself in the classroom graduating Magna Cum Laude in Exercise Science this Spring.
Through her continued dedication on the court, the leadership skills she has developed, and the lessons she has learned in the classroom, there is no doubt Berta has developed a strong skill set for her future endeavors. I am very proud of Berta and all that she has accomplished here at UWF, and I am very confident that she will be a true Champion for Life.
