Grapefruit is supporting Andy Hodgson and Rosalind Chaston as they undertake the challenging and dangerous task of rowing 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic Ocean in an unassisted journey.
This journey, which typically lasts between 40-60 days, will test the limits of their endurance as they face numerous physical and mental challenges including blisters, salt rash, sharks, stormy seas, and sleep deprivation.
Their goal is to raise money and awareness for two charities: Andy’s chosen charity is the Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Rosalind’s is the BLUE Marine Foundation.
The Blue Marine Foundation is a charity that aims to restore the ocean's health by addressing overfishing, which is a significant environmental problem. The ocean is the world's largest carbon sink, and by addressing overfishing, we can help the ocean perform its crucial role in stabilising the Earth's climate. Rosalind, who has studied Ocean and Environmental Sciences, is passionate about this cause, and she has also given science talks at schools to educate the younger generations about the dangers of overfishing to our environment.
We wish Andy and Rosalind the best of luck on their journey!
