Seduction: Art of Femininity by Sanjida sultana

The initial idea of this work was to capture women with their seductive approaches from a cultural perspective. I wanted to capture the way women adorn themselves with ornaments and traditional clothing to attract whomever they desire from my personal interest in human behavior. I remember watching a film called “Dancing with the Birds” on Netflix, which shows the courtships of birds in search of an ideal mate and wondering back then about what humans do to find their mate. Since it is more usual to see males seducing their females in the wilderness, I wondered why in our societies there are more stories about women being seductive. More importantly, I found myself exploring why there are more negative connotations relating to it despite it being part of the natural way of life?

What is more intriguing than the feminine energy women are born with?

While exploring my curiosity, I came across questions asking about seduction. I wanted to know if it really has to do with exposure of the body more than anything else. However, I realized that it is really just society breaking down the natural feminine energy to shape it into something that is artificial, exaggerated, and strongly bound within its expectational frames.

Seduction isn’t all about exposure. Certainly not of the body. Instead, it is the thrill of mystery and a game of interest- something that is found in the gaze women hold.

This sequence of images is created to draw attention to exactly that conclusion. It is what I think makes women alluring. They hold power even if they expose nothing. They reveal thousands of tales, lead on infinite trails of mystery with something as simple as batting their lashes, and draw attention even when they hide. Women, in their shell of femininity, are powerful. They are seductive by nature and their charm remains effective under all conditions and layers on them.
